We had just gone into full time ministry. God made sure He gave us the instruction at a period when we did not have any savings stashed away to fall back on; I guess that is because He wants us to depend on Him fully.
We have also informed our children of our change of circumstance, but also kept selling to them the fact that, God loves us, God is with us, and God can provide for His children always. We had said and shown this to them consistently – so they genuinely had an expectation of God.
Alongside the expectation they had was also the reality of our experience. On a certain day, our pre teenage boy walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and did not see the usual piled fridge with loads of items. We had previously informed them also that we had a new, ‘eat all that is at home’ policy; so, we were going through our freezer to consume all in it.
The fridge was truly semi empty. No shopping had been done that weekend because there was no physical money to do it. As the son saw the fridge and the cupboard, he said ‘dad, are we skint?’ Apart from the fact that Eddie was not familiar with the word skint then, he asked, ‘what do you mean by that Asher?’ To which Asher said, ‘are we broke because there is no food in our fridge.’ His dad then said, ‘we do have a lot of food, but you just can’t see it physically.’
Knowing our values when it comes to speaking by faith, Asher just shut the fridge and went back to continue with what he was doing in his room. Less than an hour later, the bell went, and a gentleman brought some shopping into our home. He said he went shopping for his family and the Holy Spirit told him to buy for his pastors. We collected the items, filled the fridge, thanked him and called our son to go back and check the fridge. He did and truly there was a fridge full of the regular items we tend to stock it with. One more time, Pastor EDDIE looked to our son and said – ‘Asher, God is with us!’
God is with us; Emmanuel is His name. He knows you, His plan for you and His purposes will never fail. It does not matter how things look, He will always come through for you. He is with you. His word says.
‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right-hand’ Isaiah 41:10
God is with us. He has promised and will never fail. Whatever you are trusting Him for this year and beyond, it is not too late for God to visit you with your testimony.
Be expectant because Emmanuel will show up for you!
