‘I am going to Cyprus!’ Hmmm, really? ‘yep, God said so’ says my new husband. Eddies statement to me about 30 years ago.
‘Ok- if God says so, I’ll go resign and we will prepare to go’.
That was my plan but Eddie said the plan is that he goes first and I will go meet him later. Now, for me, that’s a problem. I don’t want to be by myself, I am a newly wed, I am happy to weather any storm as long as we are together...but alone...why us God?
What happened next was a function of what we did with the instruction God gave us first. Our next move and God’s act in our lives was dependent on what we did with what He said before.
As I thought about this, I remember God’s word to Abraham. ‘Arise and go to a place I will show you’, again, seems like a simple statement, but it’s yet a daunting one to act on.
God instructed Abraham to leave the place he was familiar with and the result of that instruction is as dependent on Abraham as it is on God.
To move to a Place God has prepared for you requires you trusting Him to lead you in the next move. It is an act of faith that could be quite tricky to navigate but comes with huge reward if followed.
God in His word says
'If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land.' Isaiah 1:19
Obedience could be tough when we can’t see what’s ahead, I can clearly say it was tough for me to agree to the husband moving to Cyprus, tough for us as a couple to navigate that season; but it has been the most rewarding move of our lives.
Just as Abraham didn’t know where he was going but trust our God who is in control of all things and his name is still significant today, you can afford to trust our God.
Remember, the land he’s sending you is a good land and you can eat the good of the land if you’re willing to move as God desires you to move. So, what will be your next move?
God is on your side!
